Core Maintenance Mechanic B-Level

 

As a Core Maintenance Mechanic B-Level, you play a crucial role in supporting the manufacturing site by troubleshooting industrial equipment and resolving failures and malfunctions. Your responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance on production equipment and ensuring compliance with workplace standards and safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout, OSHA requirements, Standard Operating Procedures, and company Personal Protective Equipment requirements. You will also be involved in Confined Space preparation and entry, working at elevated heights, and adhering to Company Guidelines. You are expected to develop basic knowledge of the SAP maintenance work order system, possess basic computer skills, and understand diagrams, prints, and equipment manuals. You will operate all lifting equipment and be certified in Rigging. Your commitment to training and learning will help you develop high-performance competencies, technical skills, and communication skills while embodying a strong work ethic.

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Troubleshoot industrial equipment and resolve failures and malfunctions;
  • Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment;
  • Comply with workplace standards and safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout, OSHA requirements, SOPs, and company PPE requirements;
  • Develop basic knowledge of the SAP maintenance work order system and basic computer skills;
  • Understand diagrams, prints, and equipment manuals;
  • Operate lifting equipment and achieve certification in Rigging;
  • Take ownership of training and learning to develop competencies, technical skills, and communication skills;
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in Maintenance II positions, including machine repair/millwright, material handling equipment, equipment lubrication, fabrication techniques, and reliability practices;
  • Balance production support demands with scheduled and preventive maintenance activities;
  • Complete detail-oriented tasks accurately in accordance with established policies and procedures.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • Must have Valid Drivers License;
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.;
  • Bayer Internal Applicants: progression from a Maintenance I Position or experienced OME position;
  • External candidates and contractors: minimum of three years of experience in a maintenance position within industrial or mechanical operations, or three years in a fabrication shop.

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum three years of previous maintenance or fabrication experience with vocational OR technical training OR certification in Machine Repair, Machine Tool Operation, Pipefitting, Welding, or Mechatronics.
