Functional Genomics Postdoc Researcher 

 

Position Overview:

 

As a dedicated member of our team, your role is pivotal in advancing our product pipeline through the generation and analysis of functional genomics datasets using machine learning approaches. You will focus on datasets from tissue-specific RNA-seq, methylation, and chromatin accessibility experiments. Your hands-on experience in generating samples and sequencing libraries for gene expression experiments will be key in designing, executing, and analyzing experiments. Working within cross-functional teams, you will leverage functional, genomics, field, or gene expression data to inform biological systems performance. Your expertise will drive the design, execution, analysis, and interpretation of high throughput molecular biology experiments to test gene expression predictions via machine learning and/or statistical modeling. You will predict gene expression patterns based on genome-wide datasets from diverse germplasm and deliver analysis at scale in cloud computing environments. Your commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols and best practices is paramount. Additionally, you will provide written reports of results and methods and present results to broad R&D research partners.

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Generate and analyze functional genomics datasets, applying them to our product pipeline through machine learning approaches;
  • Focus on datasets from tissue-specific RNA-seq, methylation, and chromatin accessibility experiments;
  • Engage in hands-on generation of samples and sequencing libraries for gene expression experiments;
  • Work within cross-functional teams to design, execute, and analyze experiments to leverage functional, genomics, field, or gene expression data;
  • Design, execute, analyze, and interpret high throughput molecular biology experiments to test gene expression predictions via machine learning and/or statistical modeling;
  • Use machine learning and/or statistical modeling to predict gene expression patterns based on genome-wide datasets;
  • Deliver analysis at scale in cloud computing environments;
  • Provide written reports of results and methods and present results to broad R&D research partners;
  • Demonstrate commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols and best practices.

 

WHO YOU ARE:

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

  • PhD in molecular biology, genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, or similar;
  • Demonstrated experimental expertise with functional genomics data, including RNA-seq, DNA methylation, chromatin accessibility, and the use of these data to predict complex biological outcomes;
  • Expertise with machine learning and/or statistical modeling for analysis of biological data;
  • Understanding of molecular genetics and quantitative genetics;
  • Excellent track record of innovation and productivity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with genome-wide expression datasets and predictive analytics in plants;
  • Experience with molecular genetics and quantitative genetics;
  • Experience with systems biology.
