YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Deputy Director, Integrated Strategic Communications – US Pharmaceuticals are to: 

 

The Deputy Director, Integrated Strategic Communications – US Pharmaceuticals leads the development of clear, compelling and creative content that informs, inspires and mobilizes stakeholders to advance Bayer and Pharmaceutical’s overall brand and reputation and business outcomes.  Works on a variety of communications initiatives across US Pharmaceuticals with a focus on employee/internal communications and executive visibility initiatives to deliver on US business outcomes. Engages with leadership team and senior leaders across the organization, leading strategic communication programs and initiatives to deliver 90-day and long-term outcomes.

 

Integrated Communications

  • Develops and executes integrated employee communication strategies and tactics aligned with key timelines and budget. Executes according to measurable outcomes and successes;
  • Supports multiple executives in US Pharmaceuticals with employee communications and executive visibility initiatives;
  • Serve as primary contact for all internal communications for US Pharmaceuticals, inspiring employees to want to join and stay at Bayer. Harnesses the power of Dynamic Shared Ownership to drive our strategy and build and foster a strong community;
  • Drives participation and coordination for internal communications such as town halls and sales meetings and external presentations/engagements for the U.S. Pharmaceuticals team;
  • Leads social media strategy and execution for President of Bayer U.S. along with other leaders;
  • Collaborates and enhances the executive voice work for Bayer in the US;
  • Partner with product communicators to ensure corporate functions and reputational initiatives are actively represented and to communicate important business products/milestones across employee channels;
  • Support head of US Pharma communications in key message development and storytelling on core topics;
  • Serves as champion/team member on Business Enablement teams to deliver on key communications initiatives that support business outcomes across Bayer US. Initiatives may be in areas such as Employee Engagement, Site Communications and Executive Visibility and Employee Engagement or on more time-limited campaigns;
  • Be a creator. Create interesting and engaging ways to motivate and inspire Bayer US colleagues as part of unlocking the power of one Bayer as we accelerate the transformation. Serve as a change agent;
  • Creates an integrated strategy that leverages a compelling narrative, executive visibility and thought leadership to generate positive content in paid, earned, shared and owned channels.

WHO YOU ARE

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism or Business Administration;
  • Strategic mind-set, with demonstrated success in developing, managing and delivering innovative, creative and best-in-class communication strategies and programs in a large, complex global organization;
  • Experience supporting senior executives and working with leadership teams to develop and implement strategic communications programs;
  • Solid business insight and experienced at translating business goals into proactive communications strategies to drive results;
  • Ability to produce clear, compelling, creative, motivating content and effectively and succinctly communicate complex concepts in a variety of formats;
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects with a sense of urgency; thrives in a fast-paced environment;
  • Demonstrates ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships across a variety of constituencies, strong customer service and collaboration orientation;
  • Strong interpersonal communication, teamwork, collaboration skills; instills trust and builds trustful relationships; values inclusion and diversity;
  • Ability to manage complex and sensitive information and communications while maintaining strict confidentiality; exhibits grace and calmness under pressure; agile, adaptable, flexible;
  • Proven experience leading change and employee engagement programs.
  • Excellent oral presentation and influence skills;
  • Strong writer who can take complex information and produce clear, compelling, and motivating communications quickly;
  • A record of success and experience in advising senior and executive level teams;
  • Strong commercial focus and business acumen, including how policy, advocacy and access work and proven ability to apply understanding of market dynamics into strategy;
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a matrixed structure to achieve business results;
  • Proficiency with digital communications and social media tools;
  • Comfortable with medical and science-based content.
  • Domestic travel as needed;
  • Thinks strategically and executes at a high level (and all levels) to support our fast-moving and nimble organization and people-focused culture;
  • A pleasure to work with, highly collaborative, inventive and a self-starter, requiring little supervision in daily work;
  • Thinks creatively and works easily and flexibly across many areas of communications;

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • 14+ plus years’ experience in leading and implementing successful strategic communications programs and operations, preferably within the health care or pharmaceutical industries.
