National Director, Health Economics and Outcomes Research (Veterans Affairs/Department of Defense) 

 

The primary purpose of the Director, HEOR- position is two-fold – (1) to exchange peer to peer scientific and health outcomes economic information with Bayer customers/decision makers; and (2) generating cost effectiveness and patient reported outcomes that are critical for achieving optimal pricing and reimbursement, coverage as well as for communication to payers, health care providers and patients in the US health care system. Incumbent is responsible for ensuring he or she is fully versed in the therapeutic areas, up to date on all major clinical studies (both ongoing and completed) competitive product information, and health economics and outcomes research data. In addition, this position is responsible for the identification, creation, and execution of key field-based health economics and outcomes research projects, as well as tools and resources that are used in the field.

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, National Director, HEOR (VA/DoD), are to:

 

  • Lead the development and implementation of U.S. Health Economics and Outcomes (HEOR) research in the field for the Bayer product portfolio;
  • Be responsible for HEOR research plans with customers to meet their informational needs;
  • Design and conduct studies including outcomes, economics and epidemiology studies
  • "Engage with TLs, Clinical Advisors and Formulary Decision Makers to ensure alignment and understanding of our product value proposition, facilitating appropriate pricing, reimbursement, and utilization that supports the unique needs and priorities of the VA/DoD healthcare system
  • Develop communication/publication strategies for HEOR ;
  • Educate KOLs on ongoing/planned scientific studies, publications, disease state, mechanism of action, burden of illness, prevalence, and other company approved information in the public domain, for all products, develop and maintain high level scientific relationships with key health outcomes thought leaders;
  • Deliver field based health outcomes information/education to physicians, other clinicians, and formulary decision makers and advisors.
  • Provide proactive communications including formulary presentations, complex medical information/clinical and health economics and outcomes data, and build peer-to-peer relationship with Managed Care Medical/Pharmacy Directors in collaboration account lead for National VA/DoD
  • Depending on the life cycle/needs of a product, proactively share scientific information with brand aligned regional key customers. For approved products, share high level educational scientific information, and clinical guidelines differentiating product attributes as well as outcomes studies with key decision makers;
  • For non-approved products/indications, educate regional accounts on ongoing/planned scientific studies, publications, disease state, mechanism of action, burden of illness, prevalence, and other company approved information in the public domain;
  • For US Market Access, provide proactive communications including formulary presentations, complex medical information/clinical and health economics and outcomes data, and build peer-to-peer relationship with key customers at the Medical/Pharmacy Directors level in collaboration with Market Access account lead;
  • Initiate key field-based health economics and outcomes research studies in collaboration with health economics research scientists;
  • Represent HEOR at US Medical Congresses and Conventions, manning medical education booths and facilitating appropriate health economics and outcomes research information exchange. In addition, monitor and facilitate pre-Congress abstract submissions to the Publications review process, attend poster sessions and oral presentations during scientific meetings, and provide post-meeting reports summarizing key data from scientific meeting;
  • Actively gather and monitor competitive intelligence;
  • Provide health economics and outcomes research education and project training to Market Access.

WHO YOU ARE

 

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our DSO Behaviors. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Terminal Degree as a Pharm.D. in Health Economics or related Healthcare or economics discipline required, or a Pharm D., MD, DO, MBBS or DNP; with Health Economics Outcomes Research (HEOR) training;
  • Progressive experience in health economics and outcomes research in pharmaceutical industry and experience in managing project teams;
  • Self-directed, ability to work alone, entrepreneurial, collaborative;
  • Sound basic understanding of health economic research principles;
  • Ability to think strategically and make sound health economic and business decisions;
  • Ability to travel up to 30-50% of the time as this is a field-based position;
  • Excellent communication skills and good understanding working in a multi-cultural corporate environment;
  • Valid Driver’s License and eligibility to drive a company car or pooled vehicle (driving record must meet guidelines based on the company’s Risk Screening for Hiring Drivers and MVR will be reviewed as part of pre-employment screening).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least three to five years of progressive experience in health economics and outcomes research in pharmaceutical industry, including at least two years of experiences in managing project teams.

 

 

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of between $179,388 to $269,082. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
