YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Foundation Seed Associate will assist in the production of timely supply of Foundation Seed (FS), parental lines, while achieving the Yield and Quality targets. While also ensuring excellent collaboration with Breeders, seed production, farming, crop and climate team in achieving the reliability targets and improving foundation seed production reliability ( quantity, quality and timeliness). 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Foundation Seed Associate, are to: 

  • Assist in the execution of the foundation seeds program for the assigned crops and Crop Specialist, maintaining / improving reliability, quality, timeliness and cost;
  • Maintain accurate records of FS increases including inventory, purity, and disease testing;
  • Interact with breeding staff to exchange seed and information to support advancement of new parent lines;
  • Work with Quality Assurance to prioritize testing to receive results in a timely manner to ensure inventory position and highest quality;
  • Performs seed sampling and shipments, and updates records with test results;
  • Assist in all aspects of crop cycle from sowing to harvest, including rogueing;
  • Creates field-books in Digital systems and assists in data collection and crop care
  • Organizes trial seed under guidance Applies for and maintains accurate records of field inspections and phytosanitary certificates;
  • Publish and receive seed, update inventory and import plant characteristics in FTS Coordinate seed processing, if needed;
  • Oversee census sampling projects Highly proficient in Field Manager and Experiment Manager in FTS;
  • Assist in training and onboarding new associates and temporary employees;
  • Allocate seed with minimal supervision;
  • Create planting lists with minimal supervision;
  • Share relevant crop management data / information with stakeholders and subject matter experts;
  • Ensure external and internal compliance in our operations, including HSE, Human Rights, Business Conduct, QMS, BIO-ETS, and ICS.

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

 Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma;
  • Physically capable of working in greenhouse and field situations;
  • Ability to supervise labor crews;
  • Detail oriented, good organization, communication and human relation skills;
  • Effective communication skills;
  • Good knowledge of local language and English is needed;
  • Collaboration and implementation of best practices;
  • Process and Results Orientated;
  • Fosters use of digital and analytic tools.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS/BA or AS/AA with 2 years related work experience required or High School diploma/General Education Degree (GED) with 4 years experience.
